Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

• Think in terms of the “big picture” as well as consider specifics and detail.
• Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.
• Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers (both nationally & internationally) and key functions in the business.
• Negotiate effectively.
• Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives.
• Procure and range build appropriate ranges aligned to the strategy with special attention to all trading opportunities.
• Successfully source and procure a range of apparel and accessories,
• Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.

Job Requirements:

• Have experience as a Buyer (5+ years essential)
• Have a strong business acumen and merchant thinking
• Excellent planning, organising and interpersonal skills
• Be a team player
• A working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable).
• Good understanding of brand building and can provide product knowledge and education to store staff
• An interest in and knowledge of trends
• Denim experience – detailed knowledge in denim fabric, denim washing, product knowledge and product development, good understanding of quality assurance with good technical understanding of fits and able to make decisions in terms of quality and fit specifications
• Have a high degree of organisation and prioritization skills
• Have a high degree of decision making ability and be service orientated
• A proven solid track record in buying
• Be assertive and communicate at all levels.
• A creative individual that can pick up forward trends, build and develop full ranges in line with the brand equity
• Good understanding of merchandising, styling and provide marketing direction if required.
