Our integrated Voids & Lettings Service team are seeking a surveyor to help continue and improve the service delivery of voids team.
As a key member of the team, you will be required to survey occupied and unoccupied properties and identify repairs required to bring the property up to the requirements of Swindon Borough Council’s re-let standard. You will manage a caseload of empty homes, monitor progress of the works against targets and ensure, repairs are carried out to a high quality representing excellent value for money and achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate must have a good knowledge of current building legislation and a high level of understanding of all trade disciplines. The jobholder will also be able to carry out site-specific risk assessments, ensuring that all Health & Safety guidelines are being adhered to; requiring the postholder to carry out site safety audits to ensure that our contractors and in house teams are working safety. With an acute awareness and full understanding of Health and Safety, you will endeavour to complete your duties with efficiency and in a controlled safe manner.
Good time management and strong communication skills will play a key part in this role. You will be working closely with colleagues in Voids & Lettings and will undertake various tasks to support the Voids Repairs Manager and Voids Supervisor.
As a company representative, you are expected to maintain the highest level of professionalism with colleagues, contractors and members of the public. You must be able to work on your own initiative and lone work, however, it is equally important that you are a natural team player who, will work as part of a team with other colleagues in Housing and our Partners to ensure we continually improve our void performance and ultimately, provide the best service we can to our tenants.
In order to succeed in this role, we require a person with excellent communication skills as the successful candidate will be working with a variety of contacts in the Council, Contractors, Partners and liaising with our tenants and prospective tenants, some of which, may have vulnerable and complex needs.
The postholder must have a valid full UK driving licence and must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of part 7 Of the Immigration act – for communication within colleagues, partners and customers).
