Are you a recent graduate looking to apply your knowledge of advanced computer process controls in an industrial setting? We have an Engineer in Training opportunity that supports the development of creative and dynamic control strategies/applications to improve refinery operations reliability, efficiency, as well as site-wide optimization. This is all enabled via the world class Honeywell Distributed Control System install base and access to “best in class” advanced control and real time optimization technologies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to modify the control system human interface graphics, regulatory control schemes and alarm settings, following a rigorous management of change process
  • Support control historian system and the refinery-wide operation dashboard and information hub
  • Participate as a team member for the completion of process hazard reviews related to controls in your assigned unit area
  • Work closely with process control engineers, production engineers and operations to identify opportunities and to implement advanced process controls
  • Assist the process control engineers in developing and maintaining the near infrared analyzer models, including quality control charts and monitoring
  • Assist the senior process control engineers in developing site-wide optimization implementation through advanced control and optimization strategies

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • A high level of motivation and are a self-starter who can work well both independently or within a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong data analytical capability, including strong computer skills
  • The ability and desire to increase technical knowledge and work in a fast-paced environment
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • A graduate of Master’s or PhD in Computer Process Control – Chemical Engineering
  • Prior oil and gas industry experience
