Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead risk assessments and take appropriate action
• Manage and report on Capital budgets and expenditure
• Comply with professional codes of conduct and to legal requirements in business
• Cost Capital Expenditure and process Application for Financial Expenditure (AFE)
• Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System
• Provide SHE leadership within the Underground Operations Unit in line with Business Unit objectives
• Assist in preparing and managing the budget of the Underground Operations
• Lead and participate in investigations into workplace incidents
• Prepare and present business cases for Capital approval
• Drive Behavioral Based Safety programmes and initiatives (BBS)
• Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Quality Management System
• Manage the finances of the Underground Operations Unit to achieve Business Unit objectives
• Conduct internal audits of the Quality Management System
• Ensure adherence with corporate governance and ethics guidelines and compliance with legal requirements
• Approve and manage expenditure against the budget
• Report on variances from the budget and the reasons for those variances
• Manage documentation and records within the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Develop and manage new policies and procedures and maintain and update existing policies and procedures
• Apply and continuously improve policies and procedures
• Manage cost saving and cash conservation initiatives

Job Requirements:

• Grade 12 (NQF 4) or equivalent qualification
• Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering
• Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
• Blasting Certificate
• First Aid Certificate
• At least 5 – 10 years’ experience in a related role, of which 5 should have been at a management level or experience in a functional/specialist area
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.
