Saipem Careers – SENIOR ADVANCED CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Job Description:

Within the “Instrumentation, Automation and Telecommunication” Department of the Saipem SpA Onshore Division, he/she will be in charge of the detailed design, test and commissioning of complex and advanced regulatory process control strategies (APC), and the management of the supply, test and commissioning of Advanced Process Control and Optimization Systems such as Operator Training Simulators (OTS), Alarm Management Systems (ALMS), Plant Information Management Systems (PIMS) for international Oil & Gas EPC projects. He/she will also be involved in all phases of FEED and BID Projects. The Senior Advanced Control Systems Engineer will report to the Lead Automation Engineer assigned to the Project and to the Automation & Advanced Control Systems Department Group Leader.

Job Responsibilities:

• To ensure effective management of change
• To adhere to the committed man-hours, budget and schedule
• To interact with Client representatives, Vendors and Subcontractors for technical and management topics
• To provide necessary inputs, coordinate and expedite documents with suppliers, other disciplines and customers
• To review Vendor Functional Design Specifications/Drawings/Procedures/Manuals to ensure their technical compliance
• To perform Technical Evaluation of bids to ensure that contractual Technical Specifications are met by the suppliers
• To support the proposal efforts in projects bids preparing man-hour estimates and planning activities for proposals as required
• To properly interpret and apply codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the preparation of Advanced Control Systems design products
• To attend and perform FAT of Advanced Automation Solutions and Systems at vendors’ workshops and provide technical support during testing and commissioning at site
• To handle timely and qualitative preparation of Technical Specifications and Requisitions for Advanced Process Control Systems in coordination with other disciplines
• To ensure timely reporting on engineering and requisitioning activities to the Lead Automation Engineer and to the Advanced Control Systems Department Group Leader/Head of Department
• To cooperate with the Project Lead Automation Engineer for the preparation, application and maintenance of the project procedures and deliverables, in compliance to the contractual requirement, to the Department general guidelines, and to the applicable standards
• To ensure proper communication with project support functions such as Procurement and Planning and with Process Department and other Engineering disciplines leaders/specialists (e.g. Instrumentation and Automation, Machinery, Heaters and Boilers, Electrical) for management of interfaces

Job Requirements:

• knowledge of traditional Process Control
• knowledge of Instrumentation and Automation
• SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation) knowledge
• broad technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process
• detailed knowledge, with direct experience with DCS, OTS, APC, ALMS, PIMS
• Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Instrumentation & Control Engineering
• familiar with Advanced Control Systems codes and standards both domestic and international
• minimum of 8 – 10+ years related experience in LNG/Gas Process/Refinery and Petrochemical industries
• past experience on plant pre-commissioning/commissioning as Advanced Control Systems Field Engineer in Oil & Gas industry
• past experiences as a Senior Advanced Control Systems Engineer with Reputed International EPC Contractor on mid to large scale project
