Job Description:
The City of Richmond Department of Information Technology – End User Division is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Office Assistant – Mailroom. The incumbent will provide world-class support to our mailing service team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receiving and distributing incoming packages and mail, comparing incoming shipments with identifying information against packing lists, purchase orders or other records;
- Examining incoming shipments for damage or shortages;
- Completing paperwork or forms for documentation to include data entry of packing slip information into receiving software;
- Operating mailroom equipment in a safe and efficient manner;
- Sorting and distributing staff and departmental mail;
- Processing first class, standard, certified, registered, international, and parcel mail/packages;
- Maintaining records of expenditures for postage, bulk mail permit, postage due account and business reply mail;
- Performing all functions related to presorting bulk mailings to include postal reports,
- Affixing postage to packages or letters by hand, or stamp materials, using postage meters;
- Inserting material for printing or addressing into loading racks on machines, selecting type or die sizes, and position plates, stencils, or tapes in machine magazines;
- Labeling trays and delivering mail to post office.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of general office, mail, or courier experience
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
- Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with a satisfactory driving record
- At least one year of experience with data entry
