Job Description:

The Education Officer will serve as an ambassador, educator and entertainer for the exhibition. He/she will possess a thorough knowledge of the exhibition’s contents and artefacts and their significance and share this in an engaging manner, answering any questions that guests might have.

Job Responsibilities:

• Leading exhibition tours for large and small groups of all ages
• Conducting behind-the-scenes tours of the exhibition and its facilities for special groups and VIPs
• Greeting tour groups as they arrive
• Interacting with a wide range of visitors in a variety of situations
• Remaining up-to-date about current events and changes in the exhibition
• Helping facilitate special events in the exhibition
• Addressing questions from guests
• Assisting the reception desk
• Creating a memorable and educational experience for visitors of all ages

Job Requirements:

• Three-year diploma or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in History/Museology or Heritage and/or tour guiding qualification
• At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position
• Passionate about Heritage and Research
• Knowledge of the legacy of Desmond Tutu and a commitment to making it accessible to the public
