Job Description:

As an educator, you will be responsible for implementing Skateistan’s programs in a public school setting. You will be responsible for delivering high quality skate and educational programs, increasing girls engagement, and disabled youth engagement. As a Skatepark educator, you will run safe skate sessions. The ability to teach creative educational classes is a bonus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that students return skate equipment after each session
  • Prepare the skate area before each class begins – 30 minutes before and ensure it is usable and safe at all times
  • Preparation of sports curriculum based upon Skateistan’s Educational Guidelines and instructions from Programs Officer
  • Facilitate sessions according to Skateistan’s classroom and sport teaching philosophy
  • Instruct students according to weekly Lesson Plan
  • Report all incidents regarding safety, attendance, or student behavior to Finance Officer and Country Manager
  • Maintenance and monitoring of skate equipment and supplies – take inventory weekly and report to Finance Officer
  • Check skate equipment for damage and usability,
  • Keep skate inventory and storage area clean and hygienic
  • Count skate equipment after each session and ensure it is safely stored. Any missing equipment should be reported immediately for follow-up

Job Requirements:

  • Good skateboarding skills and competency in other sports a bonus
  • Knowledge or understanding of Skateistan’s programming
  • Previous experience working with youth a bonus
  • Matric certificate a minimum
  • Organization skills
  • Fluency in local language
  • Good communication skills
  • Mediation skills
  • Good written and spoken English
