Job Description:

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Division, the Secretary to the Licence Suspension Appeal Board and Medical Review Committee is accountable for leading, directing, managing, and controlling the day-to day-operations of the Licence Suspension Appeal Board (LSAB) and Medical Review Committee (MRC). This includes the management of board and committee staff in accordance with human resource, financial and general administrative policies, practices and processes. The Secretary to the Licence Suspension Appeal Board and Medical Review Committee attends hearings and provides executive support to LSAB and MRC including ongoing advice and direction on legislation, regulations and policy decisions.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with Board Governance and/or understanding the operation of government boards.
  • Must hold and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Post-secondary education in business, law, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must hold and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills including experience preparing business and operational plans, reports, and budgets.
  • Well-rounded supervisory experience in the areas of staffing, performance management and attendance management.
  • Experience with Board Governance and/or understanding the operation of government boards.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong political acumen with the ability to exercise sound judgement in dealing with confidential and politically sensitive materials and situations.
  • Experience developing, recommending and advising on policies, procedures, acts and/or regulations to senior leadership.
  • Experience in assessing, and interpreting the various acts, legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent written communication skills including experience preparing business and operational plans, reports, and budgets.
