Job Description:

An exciting opportunity exists for an Financial Manager at AVI International in Bryanston, Johannesburg.  As part of a small and robust finance team, which achieves an annual turnover of approximately a billion rand, will require a hands-on approach and a willingness to maintain oversight but also to get involved in the detail. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with the broader team and to contribute beyond his/her defined role. Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels throughout the organisation is imperative and the ability to see the bigger picture in a complex organisation operating across multiple markets and product categories.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performance management
  • Service delivery management
  • Risk management and reporting
    • Examine and manage all financial records and disbursements of Company funds to ensure full compliance with all statutory, legislative and AVI Policy requirements.
    • Prepare and manage documentation required for data capturing into SAP
    • Resolve SAP-related transactional and processing problems encountered on site
    • Ensure effective financial risk management and reporting to the Finance Executive, including working capital management and annual insurance declarations
  • Management and stakeholder reporting
    • Provide management with financial information and key performance indicators on plans and activities
    • Provide detailed and insightful reporting to senior management on the performance of the operations
    • Manage month-end close-off, accounting and reporting procedures, including review of trial balance, general ledger accounts and reconciliations
    • Critically evaluate processes, implement changes and design new methods/checks and reporting where necessary in consultation with line manager
    • Adhere to business Unit and AVI Group reporting requirements i.e. monthly reports, budgets and forecasts
    • Initiate new reporting to support decision making on a monthly and quarterly basis as required
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounts support
    • Review and challenge CAPEX submissions, track spend and report on CAPEX progress
    • Control and reduce costs
  • Financial administration
    • Review and approve expense claims, set up new guidelines and review parameters
    • Oversee the maintenance of the fixed asset register and performance of physical asset verification
    • Trial Balance generation and review for Subsidiaries and Export. Incl review of recons
    • Manage suppliers and payment of creditors, manage the settling of intercompany accounts in conjunction with AVI Financial Shared Services
    • Approve new vendor applications
  • Analysis and pricing management
    • Provide the sales team with financial information and key performance indicators on Brand and Trade Marketing plans and activities
    • Perform and analyse variance analyses against relevant benchmarks
    • Management of Sales Reporting processes for AVI International Bryanston Office and General Manager requirements
    • Input into the Improvement and maintenance of gross profit margins and NOP through input into pricing decisions and control of overheads
    • Monitor product performance, pricing and profitability analysis
    • Project evaluation, monitoring and measurement for various business activities
    • Management of pricing processes for all export markets and centralised coordination of whole AVI International business
    • Make recommendations based on sound business profitability’s regarding rebates and incentives
    • Maintain and update transfer pricing policies and methodologies in conjunction with Group Tax
  • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Proactively plan, design, coordinate and manage all budgeting and forecasting and take ownership of the entire process
    • Prepare budgets and quarterly forecasts
    • Review and alignment of Budget/forecasts to the Business’s strategic goals
    • Own ABC costing, reporting and drivers
    • Review and update cost allocation methodologies in conjunction with Management Accounting team
    • Prepare, input and analyse activity based costs as per strategic costing parameters and business strategic drivers

Job Requirements:

  • At least 5 years as Financial Manager
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar FMCG Environment
  • CA (SA)
  • Essbase would be an added advantage
  • SAP Experience
