Job Description:

  • Provision of leadership and guidance in the execution of required deliverables for the Service Management function, ensuring achievement of outcomes as per the agreed deliverables
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Shared Services that will ensure the highest level of corporate governance and compliance, while ensuring that satisfactory controls are in place to mitigate financial, operational and administrative risk
  • Act as a strategic change agent in identifying areas within the Group that require Shared Services and driving the development of appropriate process solutions in the short-, medium- and long-term
  • Lead the Shared Services response to business continuity planning. Future-proof the systems to enable new operations and/or functions to be added or improved over time without creating fragmentation or requiring fundamental re-design

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide input into the feasibility assessment and business case for the establishment of any additional function identified for potential migration into Shared Services
  • Together with the functional owner determine the migration approach for new functions to be migrated into Shared Services
  • Develop adequate transversal procedures around Shared Services and ensure these are documented and communicated throughout the Group
  • Draft and communicate Shared Services transversal processes to all Operating Divisions (OD’s) to ensure compliance with Shared Services policy guidelines;
  • Design and document all Shared Services standards that will ensure transversal processes are complete, accurate and performed timeously for all business and statutory reporting requirements;
  • Draft and communicate transversal systems information to all Operating Divisions (OD’s) to ensure compliance with Shared Services policy guidelines;
  • Design and document all Shared Services transversal systems standards that support processes with the necessary support from GICT
  • Co-ordinate all activities, outputs and reviews in terms of transversal Shared Services activities
  • Collaborate with teams across Transnet to drive adoption of technologies built and implemented as part of continuous improvement
  • Report on establishment of Shared Services progress
  • Guide implementation and continuous transformation of Shared Services functions in accordance with transversal policies, procedures and legal requirements
  • Manage Shared Services Centre interests in any process and represent Shared Services team across key forums and meetings;
  • Ensure PMO governance and manage the budget within approved parameters and report deviations.
  • Identify operational transformation and improvement opportunities based on key KPI performance across functions and business needs
  • Drive consolidation and standardization of success factors across Operating Divisions and together with functional heads drive continuous improvement within the various Shared Services functions

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems or related field
  • CA (SA), SAICA registration as Chartered Accountant would be advantageous
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a large corporate environment in multiple function-specific roles including at least 5 years at a senior managerial level
  • Experience in a Central Business/Shared Services environment would be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of process excellence and experience delivering Continuous Improvement required
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on establishing and maintaining a strong customer service culture
  • Proven ability to work effectively cross-functionally in the organization
  • Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
  • Driver’s license code 08
  • Travel when required by the business
