Job Description:

We are looking for an iOS developer who possesses a balance of passion, ability and desire to push mobile technology forward with a Team-first and collaborative approach to their work to join our Team of talented engineers working on the Southwest Airlines iOS app. This Team is responsible for building, supporting and maintaining the iOS app that has an installed base of 42 million devices with ~22m unique visitors annually. This developer will immediately become a key contributor on a high-performing Team and will have a huge impact in setting the direction of one of the largest eCommerce travel sites while working for a company consistently rated as one of the top places to work with an amazing Culture, history and legacy.

Job Responsibilities:

• Understand dependency identification processes in technology work, verifies information and carefully reviews and checks the accuracy of own work.
• Establishes or follows prioritization processes to drive work and has a sense of urgency about getting work completed.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture to evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, and influence technical designs.
• Understands and can estimate effort and value for solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
• Sets up or follows established procedures and standards to ensure high quality and quantity of work.
• Design and build world-class applications for the iOS platform using latest Swift and latest XCode
• Looks for and seizes opportunities to do more or to do things better.
• Develop or approve detail program specifications.
• Keeps informed about current developments within his or her area of expertise.
• Responsible for immediate response to production program issues.
• Have a relentless continuous improvement mindset. Be willing to work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
• Understands at a broad level how technology platforms/architectures are applied to automated business solutions.
• Identifies strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Partners with other Technology Team members to provide advice or solutions within his or her area of expertise.

Job Requirements:

• 2 years’ experience with Swift (Currently using 5.3, SwiftUI experience a plus) preferred
• May require extended work hours per Leaders’ request.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
• Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
• Experience working with JIRA and Atlassian tools preferred.
• Experience working with cocoapods dependency management preferred.
• 2 years’ experience working with source control (ex: GIT) preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of at least one required programming language.
• Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies obtained through formal training and / or work experience.
• May be asked to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a periodic basis.
• 2 years’ experience with mobile application development preferred.
• 2 years’ experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment preferred.
