The Flight Data Analyst will serve as part of the Flight Safety Team. This includes, but is not limited to, development of algorithms within FDAP (Flight Data Analysis Program), monitoring mitigations in reference to SMS (Safety Assurance), and communication of information to the appropriate SWA departments. Emphasis will be on support of external Customers and the exploration of Flight Data analyses beyond the usual safety application to includes all data sources available to the Flight Safety Team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Attend and develop presentations for industry meetings, conferences, etc
- Screen data to ensure its accuracy and integrity
- Conduct research projects including Root Cause Analysis and Hazard Identification in support of Risk Assessments using all data sources available
- Assist other Flight Operations Safety Teams as needed in integrated data analysis
- Develop algorithms and profiles to extract data from all data sources available to FDAP
- Offer and assist external departments with analyses beyond safety and Flight Operations application
- Maintain the flow of FDAP data, including processing by all applications in use for flight data analysis
- Source data analyses requests from external Customers and departments
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of FDAP data for Flight Operations and Senior Leadership
- Provide friendly service to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external Customers
- Assist in coordination with maintenance on airborne data systems, including parameter selection and validation
- Perform event review according current IOP and SPM and assist in FAA and NTSB investigations
- Provide analyses and data support using reactive, proactive and predictive methodologies for contributions to a complete Safety Management System
- Work in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our Company
- Based on analyses requests, synchronize and mine all SWA data sources available
- Use the FDAP event analysis application to generate periodic reports for program analysis
- Conduct research projects using FDAP data and assist with coordinating information derived from FDAP into Company procedures
- Promote safety awareness by developing communication and education pieces in a timely manner
- Assist the FMT / Operations Meeting in reviewing and analyzing data
- Ensure the proper functioning of GDRAS (Ground Data Replay & Analysis System) software, hardware, and associated peripherals. Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and evaluate and implement corrective actions
- Maintain the FDAP workstation — i.e. organize, secure, store, and retrieve FDAP reports
Job Requirements:
- Must have a sound understanding of commercial airline operations
- Preferred: 2 years of experience with Flight Operations organizations or operations or aviation
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Required: 1 year of experience pertinent to the hiring field in accordance with the specific job posting (ATC, Maintenance, Powerplant etc.)
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Must be detail oriented and have strong research skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Database and analysis tool skills required (Tableau, Alteryx, etc.)
- Must be able to resolve complex problems with little supervision
- Required: 2 years of data analysis, algorithm development or visualization experience
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Preferred: Airframe & Powerplant Certificate, Engineering Certification, or Pilot experience
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a Team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to comply with tight deadlines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be self-motivated
- Must have outstanding organizational skills
- Must have extensive PC database skills and knowledge
- Must be able to accomplish work with little direction
