Job Description:
The Staff Wells Engineer – Deepwater Optimization Engineer is responsible for enabling continuous improvement for more integrated, consistent and credible well delivery. Efforts are focused on natural teams to cultivate and deliver performance improvement with transparent, data-driven solutions and insights that enable early and sustainable business value, closing the gap to ambition.
Job Responsibilities:
- Take a lead role in making gap to ambition visible to focus DW Community efforts on the next level of efficiencies and fleet-wide consistency improvement areas.
- Champion business improvement initiatives revealed by gap to ambition analysis, and as agreed and assigned by management, facilitating diverse and inclusive efforts with the necessary DW community engagement and support for co-developed, fit-for-purpose and sustainable solutions.
- Actively participate in regular well delivery performance discussions pre/during/post execution to visualize, discuss and drive performance in the current well and upcoming wells (efficiency and NPT), delivering ideas from what is working on other rigs, and enabling risk-based decisions to close the gap to ambition.
- Deliver Operations Trackers and insights around highlights/lowlights for weekly performance reporting.
- Manage micro KPI data including annual targets refresh and the gap to potential dashboard for efficient identification of improvement opportunities, driving ownership, alignment and collaboration
- Enable a structured rig contractor collaboration on performance data and improvement, aligned with Operations, focused on the consistent rig set up and procedural best practices.
- Serve as a focal point with Theme Office on recommended practices identification, development and impact transparency.
- Deliver quarterly rig ranking scorecard as assigned.
- Coach less experienced OE team members.
- Champion refresh of data analysis to support time estimations and best composite well times.
- Be a focal point for the business in identifying and maturing digitalization priorities with a focus on micro KPIs, improved time estimations and offset analysis, best composite well time, and archetype well design, tying digital solutions in with natural teams for early engagement, value, and ownership.
Job Requirements:
Qualification & Experience:
- B.S. Engineering or Earth Science degree
- Minimum of 10 years of professional with broad knowledge and experience in Deepwater Drilling complemented by good knowledge of additional disciplines with relevance to DW Engineering and/or Operations experience
- Strong ability for idea generation and excellent judgment in concept/system integration
- Able to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders, possess well-developed interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with minimum guidance and concepts, and with the ability to navigate loosely defined projects to deliver value-added business solutions
- Working knowledge of data integration, mapping, and database setup is preferred
- Proficient Statistical and/or Analytical analysis, interpreting results with sound engineering fundamentals
- Strong project management and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Strong understanding of drilling efficiency optimization (DEO) principles and practices
- Proficient in dealing with competing priorities and making decisions without undue delay
- Proficient with EDM well engineering software packages or similar
- Proficiency in PowerBI and/or VBA programing is a plus
- Shell Round 2 Diploma to be acquired during the first two years of employment.
