Sappi Tugela Vacancies – Process (Pulp)

Job Description:

Sappi Tugela Mill based in Mandeni, KZN, requires a Manager  Process  (Pulp) to ensure maximum short term and long term plant performance improvement by managing and developing the plant resources.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensures maximum short term and long-term plant performance improvement by managing and developing the plant resources
• Plans the plant operations to ensure the maximum utilization of the resources (raw materials, energy, people).
• Makes short term and long-term budget plans execute the plans to develop machinery, people and best practices to ensure a continuous improvement of the section’s performance.
• Leads a multidisciplinary team assigned to his/her plant.
• Defines key performance indicators (KPI), as well as the monthly and annual objectives, in the areas of quality, cost, delivery, safety/people and environment (QCDPE) for his/her subordinates and for their respective domains, aligned with the sectional goals, budget and the S-H-E-Q system.
• Monitors monthly the performance of his/her own plant against the QCDPE objectives given by the Pulp mill manager, and takes corrective action, when objectives are not met.
• Ensures the plant’s conformance to the OSHA 18001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, 50001 systems and FSC.
• Runs TPM process, i.e. facilitates the plant and process analysis sessions, root cause analysis, the supervisor development program as well as the profit (continuous) improvement program (PIP).
• Manages S-H-E-Q system by focusing on the job and operational analysis and monitors monthly the plant’s and personnel’s performance against the S-H-E-Q objectives.
• Plans and runs programs to improve the plant safety and handles emergencies when required and Performs stand by duties.
  communicates with the internal and external suppliers, customers and responds to the customer feedback and takes corrective action if required.
• Acts as paper mill manager or as process manager of another section if required.

Job Requirements:

• B.Sc. (Chemical Eng) or B Tech Pulp & Paper/ Chemical Engineering
• 5 years in a paper mill production, maintenance, or process engineering function
• 3 years in a supervisory function
