Sappi Saiccor Vacancies – Technician : Civil (Snr)

Job Description:

Sappi Saiccor mill requires a Senior Civil Technician to scope, plan and manage civil maintenance and new projects as per Mill requirements in conjunction with the Engineering and Production departments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan yearly civil shutdown work, maintenance work, work orders, and breakdowns within a section of responsibility.
• Inspect the factory buildings, roads, effluent, and drainage as per maintenance schedules.
• Scope, plan and effect remedial action identified during inspections.
• Manage work to be undertaken inside or outside the factory as well as resources required.
• Ensure safe erection, installation, and commissioning of civil works
• Compile and manage specifications for projects and maintenance work which will form part of tender documents.
• Control cost expenditure and complete cost reporting.
• Assist Engineer on forecasting of cost on civil maintenance required.
• Maintain and understand the SHEQ requirements within the area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and codes of practice.
• Adhere to environmental procedures / best practices during the execution of the project and maintenance work.

Job Requirements:

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related equivalent whilst a BTech in Civil Engineering would be considered advantageous
• 5 years of relevant experience within Heavy Industry
• Project Management experience within a manufacturing or construction environment would be preferred
• Computer literacy with SAP working knowledge would be advantageous
• In compliance with the Department of employment and Labours directive 11 June 2021, Sappi’s risk assessment has identified this role as requiring mandatory Covid -19 vaccination, as an inherent requirement of the job
