Job Description:

Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM] (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focusses on retail products, as well as group schemes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Interface with multiple business users across the organization
• Review team members’ code and advise on enhancements
• Responsible for supporting the business by ensuring that all SQL environments are running optimally
• Puts plans in place to automate all database checks and daily tasks
• Security and risk management of the SQL estate
• Take on the role of data architect, overlooking and assisting with all database designs
• Ensure stable releases to Test and/or Live environments
• Manage ETL environment, assist in project deployments
• Understands the data, systems and architecture of front-end applications and back-end data
• Take responsibility for capacity management and performance tuning of a database

Job Requirements:

• Must have SQL performance tuning experience on large systems
• Must have solid T-SQL development skills.
• Degree or Diploma with 8 to 10 years related experience.
• Database Knowledge
• Risk Management
• Reporting and Administration
• SQL SSAS deployment, security models and design knowledge are advantageous
• SQL High availability experience is critical. 5+ years of experience on SQL HA.
• Must have work experience with SQL security and a very good understanding on how to design and implement security roles for enterprise type databases
• Must have experience in designing and building large/high volume transactional and analytical Databases
• IT Data Analysis
• Data Security
