Job Description:
Herschel Girls School adopted the IEB NSC qualification effective 01 January 2022 and owing to a retirement in this department, is looking for an innovative and progressive Head of Sport who seeks the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and excellent staff and school. In addition to an academic programme that challenges and encourages innovative and imaginative thinking, Herschel holds Physical Education and Sport in high regard and strives to provide our students with opportunities to develop and succeed at the highest level, whilst cultivating a culture of participation and enjoyment in life long physical activity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Be innovative, dynamic and progressive, with the ability to motivate pupils and coaches with a range of abilities and skills
- Lead and manage the sport staff and coaches in the achievement of set sport objectives and targets by ensuring that the sports department is a high performing entity
- Manage the strategic direction for sport, including development of facilities, sports programmes and the profile of sport
- Demonstrate excellent administrative, communication and organisational skills
- Be fully committed to the school’s transformation, equity and belonging strategic objectives in support of an equitable, inclusive and safe school environment for all
- Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Girls’ Education and the nuances applicable to support the educational premise of nurturing confident, independent, caring, resolute and inspiring young women
- Maintain and encourage a love for physical activity through participation
- Be open to explore a rapidly changing educational landscape and be open to ongoing personal and professional development to support change
- Regularly evaluate the application of existing sport policy and effective implementation of new policy
- Have experience or expertise in at least one of the following codes: hockey, netball, swimming, water polo, tennis, or cross-country and be willing to be a part of the extensive extra-curricular sport programme at the school, which includes travel and weekend activities
- Possess excellent relational skills which allow for the development of a progressive, safe, inclusive and exciting teaching environment
- Have a healthy self-awareness and a well-developed sense of duty of care towards pupils and colleagues
