Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain SAP production systems for rate updates, tax law and regulation changes, and modifications necessary due to changes in business models
  • Maintain and update the tax determination tables in billing systems as appropriate
  • Coordinate meetings between Indirect Tax Compliance Group and/or affected business groups, as necessary.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to Business Clients, Global Business Centers, Indirect Tax Compliance Group relating to law and regulation changes affecting indirect taxes (e.g., fuel excise taxes including motor fuel, special fuel, and aviation fuel taxes, environmental taxes, inspection fees and other taxes imposed on petroleum product sales/use taxes business and occupation taxes)
  • Assist Business Units & Tax Law with tax planning strategies
  • Provide tax support and training to Business Clients, Global Business Centers, and Indirect Tax Compliance Group in the area of indirect taxes (taxability, exemption certificates, SAP tax configuration, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain an open & effective working relationship with organizations that require indirect tax services, organizations that provide information to Indirect Tax and with the various taxing jurisdictions
  • Monitor and track legislation related to Indirect Taxes (fuel excise taxes and sales/use taxes) Identify issues contrary to Company Policy and recommend changes where necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with both internal and external parties
  • 3-5 years’ experience in multi-state &/or multi-tax arena
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Points of taxation
  • Working knowledge of Motor Fuel (excise, gross receipts, environmental, etc.)
  • Adaptability – ability to adjust to changing deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Sales & Use (exemptions, taxability)
  • A B.S., BBA or MBA in Accounting/Finance
  • Team Player – a ability to work effectively with others
