Job Description:
A Lab Tester is responsible for performing tests according to specified methods in a safe and accurate manner.
Job Responsibilities:
- Communicates testing issues to First Line Supervisor, completes proper paperwork, and resolves any issues.
- Records test results accurately and completely as required by Quality Practices & Guidelines and Data Integrity Assurance Framework.
- Performs preventive maintenance, glassware cleaning, and good laboratory housekeeping.
- Maintains instruments/equipment as required by the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Becomes proficient in the use of the computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Performs various chemical and physical property testing using processes such as induction, combustion, distillation, filtration, titration, phase transition and other ExxonMobil accepted industry standards.
- Reviews summary reports and mitigates any outstanding samples.
- Checks calibration frequency on designated instruments/equipment and calibrates as required.
- Tests statistical quality control (SQC) check samples as required and takes appropriate action for out of control results.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to routinely move canisters weighing up to 20 pounds from a cart to a countertop both waist-height.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Thorough knowledge of Laboratory safe work practices.
- Familiarity with physical property testing equipment titrators, automatic distillation, phase analyzers, flash analyzers, viscometers, and other physical tests.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift.
- Ability to perform calculations and scientific conversions.
- Ability to perform general troubleshooting of testing equipment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- 4 yr. Science degree or equivalent/appropriate Lab experience.
